Bar Sales Predicted to Suffer in 2014

Apr 13, 2014

Last year, bars and restaurants experienced a 1.3% decrease in alcoholic beverage sales, according to a recent report from Technomic. Unfortunately, this downward trend has continued into 2014 with a 3-4% decrease nationally, a result of the harsh weather that has afflicted much of the United States over the past few months.  According to analysts, consumers reduced drink occasions at food and beverage establishments.

How can restaurants and bars combat challenged bar sales? Consider introducing a non-alcoholic specialty drink menu featuring refreshing beverages such as spritzers, juices, agua frescas, and homemade sodas.  Additionally, make sure to incorporate some of today’s hot beverage trends such as craft beers, whiskey, and domestic wines.
